Johannesburg-based developers: Aaron Rseke, Gift Mogeni and Mosima Matlhwana under the team name Authentic8 won the Airports Company of South Africa (Acsa) and Tshimologong Digital Innovation Precinct‘s access management system challenge.
Authentic8 was announced as the winner while another developer team, Wakanda was placed second. Team Authentic8 was selected for its single sign-on solution which it built on a collaborative development platform.
With the win, the three developers will receive R150, 000 and a seven-month long incubation period at the digital innovation precinct where they will continue developing their solution.

Tshimologong Precinct enterprise development manager, Shaun Randles said the idea behind the hackathon was not only to help Acsa streamline and develop a single system to manage access and authentication for all its systems, but to help the innovation hub to discover a “new generation of technology driven skills”. 50 teams participated in the hackathon process, he said.
Acsa socio-economic development senior manager, Humbulani Netshieneulu also said the prototypes presented by the two finalists demonstrated an “innate understanding” of the challenges the company faced and the best possible solution for Acsa’s access management.
“Using a platform for enterprise blockchain, Airports Company South Africa is confident that together with Tshimologong’s guidance, Authentic8 will deliver a valuable solution,” he concluded.
