After reporting yesterday that Dubai based ride-hailing company, Careem launchesd a bus-booking service in Egypt, its major competitor, Uber is also reported to launch a bus-booking service in the country’s capital, Cairo.
The company aims to tap into the city’s sprawling low-income market with this service. Alongside the launching, they also announced a new Uber Lite app that will allow users with low connectivity to order for trips in the Middle East from 2019.
Uber CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi said, “There are millions of people in Egypt and around the world who still face real barriers using Uber,” maintaining that the new products will make the company’s services more accessible.
