The Nigerian agri-tech startup Farmcrowdy has been selected for the accelerator program known as Techstars Atlantis.

This program spans over three months with the goal to boost early entrepreneurs by helping them expand their business network and learn how to function better and faster as a business entity.

The two-year-old Techstars Atlantis is partnered with Cox Enterprises. The members of the event visited Africa back in March to observe the wide array of startups.

Only a total of 10 startups are chosen to be accelerated by this program. On top of that, only one is chosen from Africa, meaning that Farmcrowdy was the one startup the members of the program believed in the most from Africa.

Onyeka Akuma, the CEO of Farmcrowdy, along with his team are excited about the fact they have been accepted to the event. Their goal is to expand their current 1,000 engaged small-scale farmers to 10,000 within the next half-year.

Akumah hopes to further build more relationships with strong agricultural companies in and out of Nigeria through this opportunity that they’ve been given long with making the ones they currently have stronger.

The program also aims to shine light on the city of Atlanta as innovation is high there. 4 of the 10 startups that were selected are based in Atlanta itself.

Besides Farmcrowdy, there is only one other startup that was chosen that isn’t based in the US; this company is a Latvian based company known as TheMonetizr.

The other companies include 2ULaundry, Bloveit, Collider Tech, Fraudmarc, Landing Lion, MoQuality, Rapid RMS, and Vlipsy.
