Last year, there was a huge craze on foldable phones and Samsung led the pack with the closest release date, safe to say, we were pretty excited. The Galaxy Fold by Samsung was unveiled on the 20th of February 2019 and was set to be released on the 26th of April 2019. The release has however been postponed indefinitely regarding controversies that surrounds the flexible display.

The release was delayed after samples sent to reviewers were reported to have suffered broken screens. This is due to the impact on the top and bottom exposed area of the hinge. Substances found inside the device were said to be affecting the displayed performance.

Samsung has however put out a statement saying it will retrieve all the Galaxy Fold samples and also take active measures to strengthen the display.

The company said they are thrilled by the excitement surrounding the Galaxy Fold but they however will have to delay the release date so they can evaluate and run further internal tests on the phone. They also said that they will strengthen the display protection and enhance the guidance on care and use of the display including the protective layer.

The company said they will announce the new release date soon, they also said their customers is their utmost priority and thanked them for their patience and understanding.
