Big news! WHO is partnering Microsoft, Facebook, Twitter, WeChat, TikTok, etc. for the #BuildforCOVID-19 hackathon. The hackathon will be a means for startups and techies to develop software that will combat COVID-19 related challenges.
Next, SWVL, a bus-sharing platform with presence in Kenya has adopted new routes. SWVL will leverage the route to provide free rides to Kenyan commuters in need of food supplies and essentials amid the COVID19 pandemic.

Guess what? Four Kenyan and Ethiopian entrepreneurs have been selected for the Innovate for Life Programme. The program aims to aid startups with innovations in the health ecosystem. The startups will undergo a six-month training and mentorship.
Also, Mastercard launched Girls4Tech programme in Lagos, Nigeria. The program trained 60 girls between the ages of 9 and 12 in science and technology. Topics like encryption, fraud detection, data analysis, digital convergence, cybersecurity and AI, where covered in the program.
Finally, Apple’s latest update now blocks third-party cookies on Safari. This is in a bid to scale web privacy and block out advertisers from tracking users web activities.
