According to the Daily Nation, the Kenya Space Agency (KSA) aims to launch two mini rockets from the Malindi Centre.

This is a partnership between the organization and the University of Rome, according to the publication.

This was announced at the start of a space sector forum called “The Space Sector We Want in Kenya,” which was attended by Defense CS Monicah Juma, Kenya Space Agency Chairman Major General (Rtd) James Arwasa, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority Director General Gilbert Kibe, and others.

In August of this year, the mini rockets will be launched using high-altitude balloons.

This would be an improvement over the previous method, which depended on large rockets launched in the 1980s and 1990s.

“At the Malindi Space Centre, we have students who are already working on building and launching the two. James Arwasa, KSA chariman, said.

“We had nine professors from the University of Rome coming to see these students launch the mini-rockets, but sadly seven of them tested positive for Covid-19,” Arwasa stated.

The University of Nairobi, in conjunction with the University of Rome, launched Kenya’s first nano satellite into orbit.

This came after the University of Nairobi was chosen as the program’s first recipient by the University of Rome.
