Nearpays, a Nigerian startup, wins a fintech prize at Gitex Africa

Nearpays Technology Limited has won the Supernova Challenge’s Fintech and Blockchain category at GITEX Africa in Morocco.

Nearpays received a cash reward of USD 10,000 and free travel to GITEX Global, which will be held in October 2023 at the Dubai World Trade Center in the United Arab Emirates.

Providing customers with end-to-end financial services, Nearpays is a full-service financial payment platform.

The platform, which was founded by Victor Daniyan, uses blockchain technology to build a decentralized payment system that is safer and more efficient than traditional payment systems.

Based on the idea that payments should be smooth, Nearpays streamlines online transactions. The business has created a method to return control of point-of-sale transactions to users.

Victor Daniyan, the CEO and co-founder of Nearspays, acknowledges the honor and says that it is a “significant milestone” for the business. He adds that it will “help us to further accelerate our growth and expansion plans,” Adding that he traveled from Nigeria to win. “I was determined, I was ready,” Daniyan added.

“It was an honor to represent Nigeria on the global stage,” Daniyan continued.”

According to Daniyan, the cash prize will go a long way toward enabling Nearpays to cover the roughly $15,000 cost of obtaining its payment card system license.

Over 900 large technology firms, government bodies, start-ups, and participants from more than one hundred nations attended Gitex Africa.

With a total prize pool of $100,000, the Gitex Africa Supernova Challenge is Africa’s largest pitch competition, featuring reward pools for sectors like cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and digital cities, health technology, sustainability, and agriculture technology.
