Apple Partners Singapore & Rewards Residents Using its Smartwatch to Exercise

Apple has partnered with the Singapore government and will reward residents using its smartwatch to exercise. They partnered on LumiHealth, a personalized healthcare app to encourage healthy activities using Apple Watch. The Health Promotion Board in Singapore and Apple designed the program as part of the Smart Nation initiative.

This announcement comes after Apple unveiled its first state-of-the-art floating store at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. The store looks like a floating dome, has an underwater boardroom, a panoramic skyline view, and an overall look inspired by the Pantheon in Rome.

The LumiHealth app helps users to sleep better, move more, eat well, and live more mindfully using technology and behavioural insights. The government will reward residents who use its new health app with the Apple Watch.

The app encourages users to complete certain activities during exercises like swimming, walking, and yoga. It also reminds them of their check-ups and medical appointments. By completing the tasks, a user can earn up to 380 Singapore dollars (in the US $280).

At its “Times Flies” event, Apple released Watch Series 6 and Watch SE. Its Watch Series 6 has upgraded health features, including an app that monitors blood oxygen levels.

Singapore’s ties with Apple started two years back when it urged health-focused tech startups to help with the Smart Nation initiative, a new public wellness program for the country. The program will kick off in late October 2020. The LumiHealth app is now available for pre-order in the App Store.
