CNN+, a subscription streaming service, has been officially announced, with a debut date set for the first quarter of 2022.
CNN+ will offer a “additional experience that complements the core CNN linear networks and digital platforms to serve CNN superfans, news junkies, and fans of outstanding non-fiction television,” according to the firm.
CNN+, which will be independent from CNN, CNN International, CNN en Espaol, and news and true crime channel HLN, is aimed at “CNN superfans, news addicts, and fans of great non-fiction programming,” according to a press statement from the company.

CNN+ will start with 8-12 hours of live, daily programming, including both library content and new original series and films created specifically for the service.

The CNN app will have access to the streaming service, as well as CNN and related cable channel TV feeds for pay TV users.

CNN+ will also feature non-fiction programs from CNN, such as Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown and Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy.

CNN will also produce unscripted original series and films for CNN+.

Customers with an authenticated pay-TV subscription will be able to view CNN’s conventional live linear broadcast alongside CNN+ in the same app.

Andrew Morse, CNN Worldwide’s chief digital officer, will lead the executive team, with Alex MacCallum, CNN’s head of product, serving as CNN+’s general manager.

Programming, content strategy and operations, and technology will be overseen by Rebecca Kutler, Courtney Coupe, and Robyn Peterson, respectively, while CNN+ originals will be overseen by the CNN original series team.

CNN did not provide pricing information.
