Zimbabwean agritech startup, Rera who has developed an online platform that helps users manage their own poultry farm – has emerged at the top of 2018 edition of Seedstars Harare.
In a pitching session held last week at Impact Hub Harare, the founders of Rera were founded founder from eight other startups to claim the top spot
Rera’s end-to-end farming service assists users with input procurement, production, and saves users up to 40% on poultry produce.
Rera will now represent the country at the regional and at the global Seedstars Summit, which will be held in Switzerland in 2019 where the startup will stand a chance to win up to $1-million in equity funding.
Wellness and health tech startup Wellnescript was placed second, while another agritech platform YouFarm came third.
Vote Africa — a mobile application that aims to educate, motivate and empower the electorate to hold governments accountable — was awarded the best Civic Tech startup prize.
Another award, the Best Learner prize, was presented to Justice Today for its mobile application which uses artificial intelligence to educate users about and protect them from crime.
