Ingressive For Good has announced the launch of the #1000WomenInDesign scholarship initiative.

The initiative will train 1,000 female designers in Africa in collaboration with Geneza School of Design.

The aim of the program is to upskill African women who want to be designers.

The program will provide them with the skills, equipment, mentorship, and resources they need to increase their earning potential and develop a career in the industry.

All program applicants will be added to the Ingressive For Good Alumni community.

However, the finalists will have access to work, computers, and other resources.

Ingressive For Good (I4G) is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering African youths by providing technical training, culture, and job opportunities.

“It is easy to see that for every five male designers, you have only one female designer,” Blessing Abeng, the director of communications for Ingressive For Good, said, emphasizing the program’s encouragement.

Moreover, the gender gap in the design industry is broad, and we’re working to narrow it.

This is why we’ve teamed up with Geneza School of Design to help 1,000 women develop design skills and careers while increasing their earning potential.”

Ingressive For Good has always been involved in helping people gain tech skills through scholarships and programs, according to Bolanle Banwo, founder of Geneza School of Design.

“Partnering with them on this was only natural because our goals are so similar.

Our common aim is to increase the number of women in the Design and Tech ecosystem and to assist them in taking advantage of the industry’s growing opportunities,” Banwo said.

Three detailed digital course paths make up the design training:

  1. Graphic Design, which teaches the concepts of design, graphic elements, and how to use Photoshop.
  2. Product Design, which teaches how to design websites and mobile device interfaces using Figma.
  3. Brand Identity Design, which teaches how to view briefs, construct logos, packaging, and brand assets.

The deadline to apply for the digital courses is March 26, 2021.

And selected candidates will be notified on March 30, 2021.

The training will begin on April 1, 2021, and will last 12 to 24 weeks.
