The Seedstars-powered Digital Democracy Challenge seeks innovative, low-cost, and viable digital solutions to maintain civic and democratic public space when freedom of expression and association are restricted.
The program invites socially committed citizens from around the world, as well as problem solvers, creative minds, democracy experts, programmers, graphic and web designers, to participate in a 72-hour collaborative digital process. The process will conclude with a Demo Day, during which the participants will pitch their ideas in front of a jury.
Technology has enabled more inclusive participation than any other mode of communication. It has also served to promote democracy and increase citizen participation while reaching out to those who have previously been excluded from democratic processes.
As a result, it is critical that we work together to develop innovative solutions and contribute to the advancement of Goal 16 of the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The program is at the forefront of developing innovative solutions to promote digital democracy and maintain a democratic and civic space.
