Irish Tech Challenge South Africa, an initiative aimed at promoting collaborations between Irish and South African startups, has extended an invitation to South African startups to apply.
Together with implementing partners Wits University’s Tshimologong Digital Precinct (South Africa) and Dogpatch Labs in Ireland, the Irish Tech Challenge is organized in collaboration with the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI), the Technology Innovation Agency, and the Embassy of Ireland in South Africa.
The goal of the 2024 Irish Tech Challenge is to build on the success of past editions and accelerate the growth of tech firms owned by South Africans that are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN. Businesses engaged in clean and green technology, healthcare, education, and water sanitation and hygiene are especially urged to submit applications.
The Tech Challenge seeks to tackle urgent global issues while fostering economic growth and employment generation in South Africa.
A variety of advantages are in store for the seven chosen startups: grant funding of EUR10,000 (US$11,000) each, a carefully planned 10-day trip to Ireland to connect with partners and global customers, Ireland’s leading tech know-how and business acceleration, and enhanced visibility thanks to backing from the South African and Irish governments.
The deadline for applications is April 26.
