Your Home is Safer With These Surveillance Cameras

There are lots of home surveillance cameras out there, and consistently, they appear to improve and better in picture and video quality. Home security is truly vital. In case you’re not always home, there’s likelihood that somebody could be breaking into your home at any given time. So, getting a surveillance camera is not a bad idea, at least it keeps you aware of everything that’s going on in your house.

You can as well use them to watch over your pets while you’re at work, watch your children when they’re home alone, and monitor everything going on in the house.

Here is a list of surveillance cameras you should consider to keep your home safe.

Withings Home

Withings Home is an internet-connected camera which detects motion and sound in your home when you’re not there, allowing you live-stream footage from the camera through your smartphone. While the 135-degree lens captures plenty and infra-red works well when things get dark, the camera starts recording when it senses something, but it’s frequently too tardy to capture the key action. Its Setup doesn’t require much time and the multi-coloured LED is a welcome touch, especially as a nightlight; but while this is a very neat baby monitor, others here are better security cameras.

Nest Cam

The Nest Cam Indoor security camera is designed to help you look after your home and family – even when you’re away. With 24/7 live streaming, a versatile magnetic stand, person alerts with Nest Aware and one app for all your Nest products, Nest Cam Indoor helps you keep an eye on what matters from anywhere.

Nest’s app is as simple as they come, showing live previews and a three-hour snapshot of everything the Cam has spotted. It Setup takes less than two minutes using your phone, and picture quality is top-notch – both during the day and at night.

D-Link Omna 180 CAM HD

According to trustedreviews.com, D-Link Omna 180 Cam is the first Apple HomeKit-certified security camera. Integrating with the Home app in iOS 10, the camera can be controlled alongside your other smart home kit via touch or voice.

The Omna is certainly attractive. Its neat metal-effect finish and cylinder body (26mm diameter and 133mm high) look great and aren’t too obtrusive. Around the back, there’s a micro-USB power input. The down side however, is the lack of cloud backup for your captured videos, which means that if the person stealing your telly also steals the D-Link you’ll have no video of them doing it. The D-Link also requires that you have an Apple TV or homebound iPad if you want to get notifications or watch footage remotely, and the lack of face recognition means you have to turn the thing off when you’re home if you don’t want to be constantly badgered about your own movements.

Netatmo Welcome

Instead of the usual motion alerts which require you to waste time watching the footage, Welcome sends an immediate alert if an intruder has been detected in your home, complete with a picture of their face and a video recording.

The camera automatically starts recording clips to the included microSD card, which you can then back up to your computer or phone.

Canary

surveillance camerasCanary is a complete home security system packed into a single device you control from your smartphone—a modern approach to protecting the people and places you care about most. There’s no installation, so just plug it in, connect to the internet, and you’re ready to go.

Canary’s wide-angle camera serves up excellent video quality even at night, and the manually controlled 90dB siren capable of rattling your windows. Its app is also nicely designed, with quick access to your timeline of motion-triggered events.

Canary is a complete home security system compressed into a solitary device you control from your cell phone— a modern approach to protecting the people and places you care about most. There’s no installation, so simply plug it in, connect to the web and you’re prepared to go.

Make sure that the camera you’re buying has strong privacy and security policies. This is footage of your home and your life — You don’t want hackers to get their eyes on it. The cameras on our list all offer strong security and privacy with solid encryption and secure cloud storage systems. It’s also important to note that you’ll need strong and secure internet connection for any of these cameras because most of them run over Wi-Fi. If you have poor internet reception, you may not be able to support a security camera in your house.
