A detailed ranking of 85 hubs from all around the world was taken to determine which locations are the best to be employed to a startup.

The ranking was generated by Nestpick, a global furnished apartment platform. The ranking scores are based on five different categories: Startup ecosystem, social security and benefits, cost of living, quality of live, and salary.

Nestpick claims to have taken this ranking as a means for others to understand which cities would be best to enter a desirable startup business.

Of all the African cities on the list, Johannesburg placed the highest at the 71st place. Those cities in and close to Africa following Johannesburg include Cairo (80), Tunis (83), Nairobi (84), and Lagos (85).

The top cities on the list include Singapore, Helsinki, San Francisco, Berlin, and Stockholm.

Ömer Kücükdere, the managing director at Nestpick, expresses, “Certain cities may offer bigger paychecks, but after considering taxes and living expenses, the return may not be so high. Similarly, professionals should consider quality of life: will vacation days be adequate to visit home? Is healthcare as accessible as you would like it to be?”

He poses some valid questions that professionals should ask themselves before settling into a city, economic environment, and business. There are many factors you need to consider achieving an efficient lifestyle and functional salary.

The survey hopes to aware employees of the potential cities they can settle in and be able to judge what bests suits their needs.
