The Malawian government, through the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM), is working on a law that will compel companies in the country to accept at least one form of digital payment for its service.
This is a good development form Malawi. At least it will further enhance financial inclusion in the country and we sincerely hope the law will see the light of the day.
In order to track mobile money transactions on SIMs and verify tax submissions from telecoms, Ghana has launched a telecom control platform. Although, there have been some privacy infringement questions regarding the platform but, the government has said it will not infringe on citizen’s rights with the new platform.
Through its National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan Initiative (NEIP), the Ghanaian government has funded 1,350 owners of Small and Medium Enterprises, with a total of $10million in seed capital.
Also, WhatsApp is Working on New Features to Improve Chat and Notifications… the social media platform will soon launch a new feature to improve chats and notifications. WABetaInfo reported that the new feature include: Vacation Mode, Silent Mode and LinkedIn.
Finally, Egypt has started implementing their outrageous online media publications and social media law. The country’s Supreme Media Regulation Council reported that, as of 21 October 2018, it has started receiving license applications from various Internet news websites.
