$8.1-billion Fine Against MTN Nigeria May Be Reduced… Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele has said MTN Group Ltd. and its bankers have provided more documents that may reduce Nigeria’s $8.1 billion fine level against the telco company.
Moving to SouthAfrica, VC4A Selects 8 Start-ups For the 2018 VC4A Venture Showcase – Series A… The team lead for these start-ups will showcase their business in the presence of investors during the Africa Early Stage Investor Summit in Cape Town, November 11-12, with the aim of raising $250k – $5m in series A capital. The selected start-ups provide a technology-intensive or innovation-based product or service that is currently available in one or more African markets.
After securing $16m in Series B round, South African fintech start-up, Yoco has launched Yoco Capital to provide SMEs with fast, efficient access to a cash advance.
Still in South Africa, the country’s rapper, Kiernan Forbes popularly known as AKA has partnered with Vodacom to launch his exclusive mobile app called AKA Beam World App. The App is to document the rapper’s life, career, family and also give fans a platform to interact with him.
In some other news. Zimbabwe has joined the list of African countries increasing its mobile money taxes. The Zimbabwean government said the tax on mobile wallet and electronic transactions will increase from a flat five cents per transaction to two cents per dollar transacted.
