The Big 5 Daily: Chinese Royole Unveils World’s First Foldable Phone, FlexPai

Much has been said about foldable smartphones in the past year. Big guns like Samsung, Motorola, LG, Apple and Huawei promised to launch foldable smartphones this year and showing off the device prototypes. The world, however, does not need to wait any longer as American-based Chinese company, Royole unveils the world’s first foldable phone – FlexPai.


SolarNow, an off-grid solar firm in Uganda has announced a new $9 million investment fund led by SunFunder, a 5-year backer with Oikocredit and responsAbility.

This fresh fund is SolarNow’s third structured asset finance instrument called SAFI – arranged by SunFunder and will aid SolarNow to deploy 17,500 new off-grid solar systems to customers and machines across Uganda as well as produce almost 2.5MW of new installed off-grid solar capacity.


Ahead of the general elections which is expected to commence next month in Nigeria, the country’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that it will stick to the nationwide pilot electronic transmission (e-collation) of election results.

This, according to the commission’s Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu put aside the initial proposal to fully electronically transmit the election results because there is no legal backing for the plan.


UNICEF, through its set aside Innovation Fund, is investing almost $90,000 in zero-equity in data science, machine learning and AI solutions start-up that have the capacity to help humanity. As part of a deal that could boost sales of the French company’s technology for self-driving forklift trucks, Balyo – Amazon Inc. may build a stake in the company for the next seven years. Amazon, at the moment, uses robots developed by Kiva Systems, a company it bought for $775 million in 2012.

The online retailer considers warehouse automation as a key element to cut costs and speed up deliveries.
