First Africa 5G Network Launched in Lesotho… African mobile communications company, Vodacom Group has become the first operator in Africa to launch a standards-based, commercial 5G network in Lesotho. The service uses spectrum in the 3.5GHz band and will initially deliver fixed-wireless access broadband services to two business customers.
Also, enterprise material management for sewn products’ industry, ThreadSol will be launching its innovative software solutions for the apparel manufacturers during Origin Africa 2018 in Kenya. These solutions have been adopted by the top manufacturers worldwide like MAS (Sri Lanka), Epic Group (Bangladesh), Raymond (India), PAN Brothers (Indonesia), HS Fashions (China), Sangwoo (Vietnam) etc.
While in Uganda, Tidal in partnership with MTN Uganda is expanding its market to Africa. Uganda will be the second African country in which Tidal is available, after South Africa. The partnership will give MTN’s users in Ugandan subscription access to Tidal as part of their mobile plans.
Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Agency (RURA) has said that Taxi-hailing service operator, Uber is planning to expand its operations to Rwanda. The international ride-hailing company is also considering expanding into two other East African countries before the end of 2018, focusing on low-cost services.
Nigerian based digital publishing start-up, Publiseer has been launched in Ghana. Publiseer launched in Ghana because of country’s robust book publishing and entertainment industry that is growing exponentially with big players.
