Lightning Labs co-founder, Olaoluwa Osuntokun, Ghanaian-American computer scientist and digital activist, Joy Buolamwini, Nigerian co-founders of Helium Health among others African techpreneurs made the list.
According to a communique released by African Development Bank Group, Africa50, a pan-African infrastructure investment firm has expressed its readiness to invest $400 million (Rwf348.9 billion) in Kigali Innovation City. This development is as a result of deals worth $32 billion, signed during the Africa Investment Forum.
Stanbic Bank has launched a live foreign exchange trading portal in Tanzania. This is the first of its kind in Tanzania. It will allow customers to trade currencies at their convenience with access to an integrated, web-based, real-time foreign exchange portal with live market insights, real-time pricing and market research.
Afrique Excelle, a Francophone focused Africa-accelerator by World Bank Group has been launched. The accelerator was launched to support tech start-up in the late seed or pre-Series A stage.
Nigerian Government is soliciting a $500 million technology innovation fund from the African Development Bank (AfDB). The fund is aimed at increasing the competitiveness of Nigeria’s Information and Communications Technology industry.
