Let’s begin this week’s Big 5 with all the juicy details from the just concluded Google for Nigeria 2018. It’s still the biggest thing in today’s tech news. Google Nigeria event was a big hit last week.

This year’s edition was pretty amazing. Big ups to Google for supporting and pushing forward the frontiers of technology in Africa. For those who missed the two days’ tech event, see here to read some important announcements and sessions that caught our attention during the event.


Zimbabweans head to the polls today after the overthrow of Robert Mugabe late last year and the country looks forward to a brighter and democratic future. One of the country’s local start-up called Vote Africa is doing its best to empower Zimbabweans and promote accountability with mobile application  that aims to educate, motivate and empower the electorate to own the electoral process and hold elected officials accountable.

Lagos Startup Week is here again!

The annual event brings together tech stakeholders, investors, developers, designers and entrepreneurs to make pertinent discussions about the Nigeria (Lagos) tech ecosystem. This would be achieved by taking masterclasses to Pitch sessions, dinners and Networking.This year’s theme is ‘’Get Started’’.  Read more about the event and how to participate.

B2B e-commerce Start-up, Afrimart Launched in Nigeria…  a B2B e-commerce platform for products made in Africa,  was launched in Nigeria, aiming to promote intra-Africa trade to higher heights of growth. Big ups to the Afrimart Team.
