Today’s big 5 is dominated by news from Kenya. However, we still have great stuff from other countries.

Bamba allows the building of highly targeted and responsive panels for data collection while incentivizing respondents with instant mobile airtime.

Meanwhile, WaziMart has launched Kenya’s largest online hardware construction   products site which is targeted at connecting buyers with suppliers within Kenya who have hundreds of products and services listed online.

Also, 12 exponential technology start-ups have been selected from  Kenya, Egypt and Tunisia for the Norway-based Katapult Accelerator programme.

The Katapult accelerator is a three-month programme that will see selected start-ups work with the accelerator’s core team and a network of more than 120 international mentors to develop their businesses.

In Uganda, fintech start up, Agro Supply has been announced winner of 2018 Seedstars Kampala pitch event. Agro Supply is a platform that allows smallholder farmers to save money for agricultural inputs.

The start-up emerged winner after defeating 10 other start-ups that pitched at the event which was held in Uganda.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), have approved the sale of Nigeria’s third largest mobile network operator, 9mobile  to Teleology Holdings Limited.

Teleology Holdings Limited, the preferred bidder for the acquisition of 9mobile, had in July met the deadline for ownership of the firm with the payment of $251million into the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) escrow account, pending receipt of a ‘‘no objection” from the NCC.
