Big news! The Japan Samurai Incubate has launched a new fund called Samurai Africa Fund II. They will leverage this to invest $18.3 million in fintech, insurtech, medtech, Agritech, retail, healthtech startups across Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa.
We also have news that Okuafo Foundation an agritech startup based in Ghana emerged the winner of UAE’s Zayed Sustainability Prize 2020. The startup received a $600,000 prize for winning the food category of the prize.
Guess what? Safaricom invested $22 million in Circle Gas a firm based in the UK. Circle Gas will then leverage M-Gas, its subsidiary in Kenya to provide customers access to clean and affordable prepaid gas service.
Have you heard? Jumia Kenya is venturing into advertising weeks after sacking workers in the country. This move to restructure its business will allow Jumia to tap into Kenya’s advertising market.
Finally, Gartner’s Global PC Shipment report has revealed that Global shipment grew by 2.3% in 2019. The report also revealed that a total of 261 million units of PCs were shipped in 2019.
