A 24-year-old Ugandan software engineer, Brian Gitta has won the Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation, with his project ‘Matibabu‘, a device that tests for malaria without drawing blood. Read story here.


Truecaller has acquired India’s first multi-bank payments app,  the company announced its acquisition of Indian payments app to strengthen its payments business in the country.


Telkom Invests $30m to Provide High Speed Internet In Kenya…  the Kenya’s leading telecommunications companies invested Ksh3 billion ($30 million) towards ‘Fiber to the Building’ (FTTB), a new service that will see buildings connected to high speed fibre Internet to power businesses.


Orange Fab France has Unveiled Acceleration Program  for Female Entrepreneurs called “Women Start”… a start-up accelerator, presents its “Women Start” Accelerator Program 2018 dedicated to encouraging women-led startups around the world and helping them develop their businesses.


Facebook says they are not building eye-tracking software… the social media platform has denied building eye-tracking software in its response to questions from Congress released Monday but said if it ever did build out the technology, it would take privacy into account.
