Speech technology startup Murf AI said it has raised $10 million in funding led by Matrix Partners India.

Existing investor Elevation Capital, as well as prominent angel investors such as senior vice president, product at Disney Streaming, Ajay Arora; Ola cofounder, Ankit Bhati; Mad Street Den cofounder, Ashwini Asokan, among others also participated.

The startup will use the funds to drive further product innovation, accelerate research and development, as well as scale its presence in focused geographies.

Founded in October 2020 by IIT-Kharagpur batchmates Sneha Roy, Ankur Edkie, and Divyanshu Pandey, Murf provides artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled software tool that allows users to generate human-like voiceovers for videos and presentations without the need for complex recording equipment or hiring a voice artist.

In May last year, the startup raised $1.5 million as a part of its seed funding round led by Elevation Capital and a few angel investors.

The startup’s solutions are currently leveraged by creators including educators, authors, podcasters, animators, product developers, YouTubers, among others.

Murf’s curated voice library consists of over 120 AI voices in over 20 languages.
