Nuro, the California-based autonomous driving technology company, has successfully closed a $203 million Series E funding round, elevating its valuation to $6 billion. The round attracted both new and returning investors, including Uber, NVIDIA, Baillie Gifford, Icehouse Ventures, Kindred Ventures, and Pledge Ventures.

This funding will bolster Nuro’s expansion into autonomous ride-hailing and delivery services. A notable collaboration is with Lucid Motors and Uber, aiming to deploy over 20,000 autonomous vehicles in the U.S. by 2026. These vehicles will integrate Nuro’s Level 4 autonomous technology, marking a significant step in the commercialization of self-driving services.

NVIDIA’s involvement extends beyond investment; the company has been a technical partner, providing GPUs for Nuro’s data processing needs. The latest funding will support the development of Nuro’s AI-first platform, enhancing its capabilities in autonomous driving.

Despite a decrease from its $8.6 billion valuation in 2021, Nuro’s current valuation reflects investor confidence in its strategic direction and technological advancements. The company has now raised a total of $2.3 billion, positioning itself as a significant player in the autonomous vehicle industry.

With this new capital, Nuro plans to accelerate the deployment of its autonomous technology, aiming to transform the landscape of urban mobility and last-mile delivery services.
