A new deep‑tech accelerator named the Digital & Green Innovation Challenger has opened for applications, targeting early‑stage startups in East Africa that are developing digital and environmentally sustainable solutions.
The programme is structured for for‑profit startups registered and operating in Kenya, Ethiopia or Uganda, particularly those with a digital product or business addressing climate resilience, circular economy, green mobility, renewable energy, environmental services or other related areas.
Key elements of the accelerator include:
- A cohort of up to 25 startups will be selected for an intensive acceleration journey covering business‑model refinement, scaling strategies and leadership development.
- Founders will receive access to one‑on‑one and group mentoring by experienced entrepreneurs and investors, support for investor readiness, and opportunities for regional and global visibility.
- The programme culminates in a pitch competition where the top three startups share a prize pool of €15,000 and may also receive travel support to attend major innovation events in Nairobi (December 2025) and Estonia (May 2026).
- The application deadline is 10 November 2025 (GMT+1) for the 2025/26 cohort.
In terms of eligibility, startups must have at least two active co‑founders, already have an MVP (minimum viable product) or early revenue, and demonstrate growth potential. Youth‑ and women‑led teams are particularly encouraged.
The programme is part of the broader “Digital & Green Innovation Action” funded by Team Europe (Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Estonia) and co‑funded by the European Commission.
