A new deep‑tech accelerator named the Digital & Green Innovation Challenger has opened for applications, targeting early‑stage startups in East Africa that are developing digital and environmentally sustainable solutions.

The programme is structured for for‑profit startups registered and operating in Kenya, Ethiopia or Uganda, particularly those with a digital product or business addressing climate resilience, circular economy, green mobility, renewable energy, environmental services or other related areas.

Key elements of the accelerator include:

In terms of eligibility, startups must have at least two active co‑founders, already have an MVP (minimum viable product) or early revenue, and demonstrate growth potential. Youth‑ and women‑led teams are particularly encouraged.

The programme is part of the broader “Digital & Green Innovation Action” funded by Team Europe (Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Estonia) and co‑funded by the European Commission.

For innovators in Kenya, Ethiopia or Uganda working at the intersection of technology and sustainability, the initiative offers not only acceleration support but also pathways to funding, market access and international networks.

Applications can be submitted via the website.
