Applications are now open for the fifth cohort of the Home Grown Solutions (HGS) Accelerator for Pandemic Resilience, an initiative by the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This program aims to accelerate the growth of African healthcare companies to strengthen the continent’s pandemic resilience, aligning with the African Union’s Energize Africa Initiative and Agenda 2063 aspirations.
Program Overview:
The HGS Accelerator offers tailored support to early-, growth-, and mature-stage healthcare businesses across three key areas:

Context-Specific Advisory: Providing expert guidance to address unique challenges faced by healthcare enterprises.

Investment Readiness Support: Assisting companies in preparing for investment opportunities.

Strategic Partner Matching: Connecting businesses with potential partners to foster growth and collaboration.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be considered for the accelerator, applicants must:

Company Stage: Be a registered for-profit entity demonstrating clear market traction and a sizable customer base, with the ambition and potential to scale beyond the current size.

Impact on Health Systems: Manufacture medical consumables or devices on the continent, provide healthcare services to patients (diagnostic, treatment, or otherwise), or offer technology solutions to strengthen health access or delivery.

Home-Grown Solution: Operate mainly or solely in Africa (preferably across multiple countries), employ mostly local staff in the markets of operation, and have strong African representation in leadership.
