MEST Africa has announced the launch of the fifth edition of the MEST Africa Challenge, with the winner receiving $50,000 in equity capital, international recognition, and membership in MEST Africa’s lifelong supportive community.

The MEST Africa Challenge (MAC) is a Pan-African pitch competition for tech businesses in their early stages that are looking to gain more exposure and funding.

MEST is a pan-African software and entrepreneurship training program, seed fund, and incubator that supports the establishment of technology firms all over the continent. It was established in Ghana in 2008 by Jorn Lyseggen.

To date, MAC has funded over 80 startups and mentored tens of thousands of entrepreneurs from all over the continent.

Pre-seed to seed-stage technology businesses are eligible for the MEST Africa Challenge in Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Kenya, and South Africa, where regional contests will be conducted in October.

From each nation, two finalists will be chosen to compete in the final in Accra for the grand prize of US$50,000 in equity.

The deadline for applications is October 9.
