AfriLabs the largest network of technology and innovation hubs in Africa, has announced its Annual Gathering for this year will hold this coming October in Cairo, Egypt.
Described as the biggest convergence of key stakeholders in the African technology ecosystem, the event brings together tech players on the continent to network, share ideas & experiences, showcase disruptive innovations and build partnerships.
This year’s edition is themed “Smart Cities”. Discussions will be centred on how Big Data and Internet-of-Things can be applied to improve the different aspects of daily life like Data analytics, Water/Waste Management, Buildings & Infrastructure, Energy Management, Transportation, Cyber Security, and so on.
The attendees – innovation hubs, startups, government’s representatives and cities administrations, economists, scientists, et al – will work together to come up with a vision for the next generation of African cities.
“This year, we are targeting the theme of transforming cities in Africa to smart cities. The summit will highlight insights and business opportunities for startups to enhance African infrastructures and technologies respecting the African ecosystem and priorities; people, needs, resources, culture, and economy,” Afrilabs stated in a press release.
The Gathering will hold from October 18 – 20 at The French University in Sherouk City, Cairo. District, a member of the AfriLabs network in Egypt, will host the event.
“We are extremely proud and happy that AfriLabs community voted for District and Egypt to host the AfriLabs Annual Gathering 2017. We will work with AfriLabs using our network, time and expertise to make this event one of the biggest in Africa,” said Moetaz Helmy, District.
