AfricArena has announced the dates for a two-day summit on June 22 and 23 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Dakar, following a successful annual 2020 summit on investment, entrepreneurship, and investment in Cape Town, South Africa, via the AfricArena Air platform and AfricArena Wired innovative mobile app.
Under the #FastTrackTech Africa project, AfricArena will hold a two-day conference in collaboration with DER/FJ (Délégation Générale à l’Entreprenariat Rapide des Femmes et des Jeunes, Senegal Government) and ITC United Nations.
A pitch event will be held the day before the two-day summit, during which selected entrepreneurs will participate in a day-long Bootcamp hosted by Impact Hub Dakar, a local incubator. Parallel to the bootcamp, an invite-only West Africa Investor Unconference for major VCs and startup investors from across the continent will be held. Workshops and discussions on co-investing and how to simplify investments in digital firms will be held throughout the event.
AfricArena will host four hybrid events in Africa’s four regions in 2021, leading up to the AfricArena Summit in Cape Town.
The regional events bring together investors, startups, and companies that do business in the area. At the Dakar event, around 20 startups are expected to pitch.
The event not only adds to the region’s ecosystem by providing a plethora of experience and networking possibilities, but it also serves as a semi-final pitch session. Selected firms will have the opportunity to pitch at the Grand Summit, which will take place in Cape Town in December 2021.
According to Christophe Viarnaud, founder of AfricArena, West Africa has a “strong, expanding ecosystem” that is ideal for a “deep dive into African technology.”
AfricArena is an African tech ecosystem accelerator that holds both live and virtual events with the goal of accelerating the growth of tech startups in the ecosystems in which they operate by providing a forum for them to present their business models, raise funds, and build useful networks.
