Algerian telecommunications leader Djezzy has unveiled the Open Innovation Challenge 2025, an initiative designed to empower local innovators in bridging the digital divide and fostering inclusive economic growth. In partnership with the Algeria Startup Challenge, this competition invites startups, researchers, students, and professionals to develop technological solutions that promote digital inclusion, reduce inequalities, and connect underserved populations to the opportunities of digital transformation.
Objectives and Focus Areas
The challenge aims to strengthen Algeria’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by supporting projects that address pressing issues linked to urbanization, sustainability, and equitable digital access. Djezzy emphasizes responsible innovation, encouraging solutions that deliver both social and environmental impact while fostering collaboration between startups, institutions, and experts to accelerate deployment at scale.
Eligibility and Evaluation Criteria
Eligible participants include startups, microenterprises, professionals in career transition, researchers, and students. Proposals will be evaluated based on factors such as the importance of the problem addressed, feasibility and scalability of the solution, alignment with Djezzy’s priorities, level of innovation, technological maturity, and the experience of the project team.
Rewards and Support
The winning project will receive a grant of 200,000 DZD, along with mentorship, access to Djezzy’s technical resources, and opportunities to engage with institutional and economic actors in Algeria’s innovation landscape. This initiative aims to co-create solutions with local talent, foster emerging technology-driven startups, and shape a more inclusive, responsible, and connected digital future for Algeria.
