Just after few days, Taxify launched Taxify Go and Taxify XL in Nairobi, it has launched Taxify XL in Mombasa, Kenya to cater for riders traveling in larger groups.

Taxify XL aims at helping users who would want to travel as families or teams and who don’t want to take more cars to the same direction or event. XL will be a good package for corporate firms for teams, students and tourists who mostly move as a pack. TaxifyXL can accommodate 6 riders at a go.

Taxify’s regional marketing manager, Lorreen Ajiambo said; “As always, our goal is to make transportation affordable, accessible and convenient. We got continuous requests from riders who wanted an option for when they are traveling with larger groups.”

Ajiambo says the firm also took in feedback from drivers with larger capacity vehicles who desired to carry more passengers and therefore earn higher fares.

Taxify XL in Mombasa is more costly than the one offered in Nairobi. Base fare is KES 100, per kilometre charge of KES 45, KES 5 per minute and the minimum fare is KES 250. In Nairobi, they charge KES 40 for every kilometre, KES 4 per minute and a base fare of KES 100 for TaxifyXL clients in Nairobi.

Also, Taxify did not unveil Taxify Go, the company’s budget ride sharing alternative. This option was launched together with TaxifyXL in Nairobi.

“Taxify GO is not available in Mombasa. It is only available in Nairobi,……Well, every city is different with riders having different needs. We introduce products in different cities based on the needs in those cities. Taxify Go is a product that suits rider needs in Nairobi but not in Mombasa.” Taxify’s representative said.
