PLAN GET-TOGETHERS SMARTLY WITH THIS APP

How is it that social media has somehow managed to make us a little less “social” in the traditional sense then we were before it ever came around? Everywhere, people seem to be virtually glued to their screens: instant messaging people who they are in the same vicinity as, rather than speaking with them face-to-face. It is for this reason that Cape Town Startup, Get Sponty, has created an app that ironically, is meant to encourage people to plan physical get-togethers with friends and get off their phones. What makes Get Sponty any different? Read on to find out more.

Get Sponty is an app that facilitates sending and receiving invitations to parties and get-togethers between you and your friends. It has a calendar inbuilt for only your social events. This calendar can be integrated with your phone’s calendar if that’s your preference. The calendar doesn’t include your business events because the copiousness of these can discourage outings.

It also helps you find a good location for the get-together and, to prioritize inviting your friends first, out of all your contacts. Friends do not need to have the app to receive an invitation. They can receive one via SMS. Every event you plan is exclusive to the people you invite and so remains private.

The app was originally developed 2 years ago. It is supported on all platforms, Android, iOS, Windows, Blackberry etc. It is available on the Apple App store and on the Google Play Store as well.
