THE TECHNOLOGY THAT HAS WOMEN’S HAIRSTYLES IN MIND
If you have kinky locks like I do then you have witnessed the struggle of having to style your hair in a rush before. You don’t want to fall into the habit of always typing up your hair into a ponytail and even maintaining an afro requires a certain level of maintenance. Where do you find the inspiration to change your hairstyle? An app named Tress could be the solution for hairstyle tips, ideas and guidance from a community of females just like you. Three software engineers got together and they invented an app that works like a social media where ladies can share hairstyle ideas.
What’s all the hype about Tress? It works like an Instagram for hairstyles. A new user creates a profile. To find a new hairstyle, choose the category of hairstyle you are interested in, your location and the price range. There are 9 categories of hairstyles ranging from weaves to cornrows to perm cuts. The app also allows you to follow people and allows people to follow you. The inventors, Priscilla Haze, Esther Olatunde and Cassandra Sarfo, are all alumni of Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) in Accra, Ghana.
Tress passed through Silicon Valley’s Y Combinator incubator, the place where Air Bnb and Dropbox were both birthed. Tress was a part of the 8-week incubator fellowship program for startup companies. It can be downloaded on both Google Play Store and The App store with Apple.
