Four early stage and four advanced start-ups including Cowtribe from Ghana have emerged winners at the 2018 AgriHack Pitch.
The early stage start-ups are those just launching while the advanced stage were judged on a criteria list that included the problem(s) addressed, unique value proposition, market addressed, current market traction and revenues.
Pitch AgriHack is part of the AgriHack Talent initiative of the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) and aims at accelerating e-agriculture entrepreneurship for improved livelihoods in the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) regions.
IBM Partners Tshimologong Precinct to Launch SA Acceleration Bootcamp… South African based IBM together with Johannesburg’s Tshimologong Digital Innovation Precinct have announced the launch of a start-up accelerator. The programme is designed to enable the development of growth-stage tech start-ups, and will run for six weeks from early October using a bootcamp format. It will focus on enablement and development through a series of short, intensive and rigorous modules.
Three SA Start-ups To Participate in The Disruption Agenda… One of the largest banks in South Africa; Nedbank, has selected three South African Start-ups; Aerobotics, IoT.nxt and LifeQ among 10 other start-ups for The Disruption Agenda.
The Disruption Agenda is to connect innovative start-ups with major corporate and business leaders and it is in partnership with Silicon Valley’s Plug and Play and will hold in Johannesburg this September.
Cairo Angels Invest in Egypt Co-Working Space Provider; AlMaqarr… Egypt’s first formal angel investment network; Cairo Angels, has announced its investment in AlMaqarr, a leading coworking space in Egypt. This investment by Cairo Angels in AlMaqarr is the first in the sector. The investment is part of an angel investment round which includes Alex Angels—the first syndicated angel investment between both angel investment networks.

These devices were unveiled yesterday at Steve Jobs Theater, Apple Park, California by the company’s CEO; Tim Cook and his team after months of speculations, rumors and leaks.
