iPhone lovers, the latest iPhone has finally been unveiled after months of speculations, rumors and leaks about the latest roll out of gadgets from Apple Inc. Yesterday at the Steve Jobs Theater, Apple Park, California. Apple rolled out 2018 iPhone; XS, XS Max and the most affordable XR. Also released were the Apple Watch Series 4, Apple TV and HomePod, and of course new processor.
Snapchat Invests $150k in South Africa’s Journalism Network; Hashtag Our Stories… Reports have it that Snapchat has invested $150,000 in South Africa’s mobile journalism network; Hashtag Our Stories as part of its start-up accelerator; Yellow.
Yellow is a launchpad for creative minds and entrepreneurs who are looking to build the next generation of great media companies.
Also, Baobab of South Africa has been announced winner of the justice accelerator in the Hague Institute for Innovation of Law’s (HiiL) annual Innovating Justice Challenge.
Baobab law was founded by Khokela Daula and Guy Stern. It was established to remove barriers of entry for legal assistance by providing informative DIY legal solutions in the form of video tutorials that can speed up the process of resolving legal matters.
Facebook is Building AI to Detect Offensive Memes… According to a blog post by Facebook, the social networking company is building AI called Rosetta that uses machine learning to identify text in images and videos and then transcribe it into something that’s machine readable. This is needed because Facebook transcribes every image posted on the platform.
Rosetta is said to be live now, extracting text from 1 billion images and video frames per day across both Facebook and Instagram.
Meanwhile, Facebook’s sister company, Instagram is testing on a feature that the users would be able to tag their friends in videos. With it, you can click a button that will take you to a page listing all the people tagged in the clip, unlike with photos where images only show everyone tagged.
