Co-Creation Hub (CcHub) is launching a Design Lab in Rwanda’s Capital, Kigali in the coming weeks.According to the CEO, Bosun Tijani, this Design Lab will be a ‘first of its kind’. This seems to be another initiative aside from its hub. The workroom will house its internal research and development unit comprised of designers, engineers and product developers— who will work together with top scientists globally to take on social challenges.
Only 41% of remote areas in Nigeria have access to electricity – this statistic indicates that 90 million people live without electricity – and because of this, Fenix International has found a place in the Nigerian market. Their aim is to bring high quality pay-go solar power systems to the country.
Flat6Labs, a Tunisian accelerator may get equity investment from the International Financial Corporation, according to a report . The investment will go into the Flat6Labs’ proposed fund which is the– Anava Seed Fund: a start-up accelerator and early-stage venture capital fund set up by Flat6Labs Tunis.
Kenya’s Maisha Meds and Turaco, both e-health start-ups have joined the Villgro Kenya portfolio. Each Start-Up received $40,000 grants and incubation support to help them grow and upsurge access to healthcare for low earners.
And finally, according to a New York Times report, it was claimed that Facebook has for years, been giving Microsoft, Amazon, Spotify and other big tech companies access to more personal user data than it says. The report claimed Facebook legalised Amazon to obtain users’ names and contact information through their friends, and it also lets Yahoo access streams of friends’ posts despite saying it had stopped that type of sharing years earlier.
