Conversational messaging platform Gupshup has acquired Active.Ai, a conversational AI firm, in an all-cash deal. The financial details were not disclosed.
The acquisition is expected to help Gupshup – which offers conversational messaging services to businesses – strengthen its customer experience solutions for banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) clients.
Singapore-based Active.Ai serves BFSI customers, including Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tata Capital, and IndusInd Bank, across 43 countries.
The company says it has enabled more than 300 million user interactions via voice, video, and messaging.
The company’s team size has grown from 200 about a year back to 1,200, including the teams it has absorbed due to acquisitions.
Gupshup raised $340 million last year from investors including Fidelity Management & Research Co, Tiger Global, Think Investments, and Malabar Investments.
