Technology group Rohde & Schwarz (R&S) has completed the acquisition of Munich Innovation Labs GmbH (MIL), a Munich‑based software specialist focused on AI‑driven open‑source intelligence (OSINT) solutions, effective 31 October 2025.

R&S said the deal will strengthen its offering in data‑analytics solutions, particularly in sectors involving domestic and international security. The acquired company, founded in 2015, develops and markets AI‑based software tools complying with data‑protection and information‑law requirements.

According to the press release, the MIL founders, Stefan Taing and Jens Elsner, will remain in their management roles within the business, now integrated into R&S.

Sebastian Richter, Vice President of Monitoring & Analytics at R&S, said, “Open‑source intelligence has become an indispensable tool for security agencies. I am very pleased that Munich Innovation Labs will now be part of R&S. … The acquisition is a strategic addition to our portfolio and will benefit the customers of both companies.”

R&S described the acquisition as enabling both companies to continue development of their “first‑rate analysis platforms” in a synergistic fashion.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The move aligns with R&S’s broader strategy of reinforcing its capabilities in cybersecurity, monitoring and analytics for regulated industries and government customers.

With more than 15,000 employees globally and revenue of EUR 3.16 billion in the 2024/2025 fiscal year, R&S says it is positioned to drive long‑term innovation and sustainable investment via this acquisition.
